GodSpeaks so much better than this


This may be the product I most thing of when I think of this blog. I found this devotional in our church library and checked it out. I proceeded to keep it so that no one else would read it.

Yes, there are some good ones. "I love you, I love you, I love you. —God" or "Let's talk. —God" are a beautiful way of capturing God's heart.

But honestly, I can't see how someone ever thought God some of this stuff. "Big Bang Theory, you've got to be kidding. —God" and "Keep using my name in vain, I’ll make rush hour longer. —God" are prime examples of why people avoid Christians like we were lepers. Yes, they're catchy. Yes, they get peoples attention. But so are naked women. This kind of quick, punchy, sloppy evangelism says to people that God is more about being right than he his about resurrecting the world from the death that people experience every single day. At best, it's misguided, a true example of making God in our own modern, evangelical, American image.
